Aunt Ruths Favorite White Cake

Aunt Ruth's Favorite White Cake
Yield: Makes one 2-layer cake
Ingredients:
1
package (18-1/4 ounces) white cake mix
1-1/4
cups water
3
eggs
2
tablespoons vegetable oil
1
teaspoon vanilla
1/2
teaspoon almond extract
Creamy White Frosting (recipe follows)
Preparation:
1.
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 8- or 9-inch round cake pans.

Combine cake mix, water, eggs and oil in large bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Add vanilla and almond extract; mix until well blended. Divide batter evenly between prepared pans.
3.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpicks inserted into centers come out clean. Cool in pans on wire racks 10 minutes. Remove cakes from pans to racks; cool completely.
4.
Prepare Creamy White Frosting. Fill and frost cake with frosting.
Creamy White Frosting
Ingredients:
1
cup milk
3
tablespoons all-purpose flour
1
cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1
cup powdered sugar
1
teaspoon vanilla
Preparation:
1.
Combine milk and flour in medium saucepan; cook and stir over low heat until thickened. Cool.
2.
Beat butter in large bowl until creamy. Add powdered sugar; beat until fluffy. Blend in vanilla. Add flour mixture; beat until thick and smooth.
