Sustainability is in, and almost every industry is making efforts to show off how eco-friendly it is. But green comes in different shades, even for breweries: there are barely-green steps like slapping a "please recycle" label on the bottle or can, more significant practices like using organic, locally grown grains, and then there are breweries that have gone totally dark (forest-friendly) green: breweries, for example, that trap the carbon dioxide produced by fermentation for reuse later during bottling. This keeps the greenhouse gas out of the atmosphere, but also eliminates the need to truck in additional CO2.

You already know to look for local brews and companies that use recycled cans or bottles--or when you can, take a growler in to your favorite pub and enjoy that fresh draught taste at home. But do you know the behind-the-scenes green elements that go into the beer before it hits your store shelves? Take this quiz to find out.
