YIELD Makes 4 servings
|1||teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper|
|1||pound sirloin steak, cut into 4 serving pieces|
|Nonstick cooking spray|
|2||medium tomatoes, cored and cut into 4 slices each|
|4||ounces mozzarella cheese, cut into 4 slices|
|8||fresh basil leaves|
|2||to 4 tablespoons bacon bits|
|4||teaspoons olive oil|
|2||tablespoons balsamic vinegar|
- Sprinkle pepper on each side of steaks (1/8 teaspoon per side). Spray a medium nonstick skillet with nonstick cooking spray. Heat skillet over medium-high heat. Add steak and cook for 4 to 6 minutes per side or until desired doneness. Place steaks on individual plates or on a serving platter.
- Layer tomato slices, mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil leaves on top of steak. Sprinkle bacon bits on top. Drizzle 1 teaspoon olive oil and 1/2 teaspoon balsamic vinegar over each "stack".
