INGREDIENTS

1 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
1 pound sirloin steak, cut into 4 serving pieces
Nonstick cooking spray
2 medium tomatoes, cored and cut into 4 slices each
4 ounces mozzarella cheese, cut into 4 slices
8 fresh basil leaves
2 to 4 tablespoons bacon bits
4 teaspoons olive oil
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

PREPARATION:

  1. Sprinkle pepper on each side of steaks (1/8 teaspoon per side). Spray a medium nonstick skillet with nonstick cooking spray. Heat skillet over medium-high heat. Add steak and cook for 4 to 6 minutes per side or until desired doneness. Place steaks on individual plates or on a serving platter.
  2. Layer tomato slices, mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil leaves on top of steak. Sprinkle bacon bits on top. Drizzle 1 teaspoon olive oil and 1/2 teaspoon balsamic vinegar over each "stack".
