Be Heard at the Brooklyn Food Conference this Weekend
If you're in New York City this Saturday, May 2, hop on the subway and bee-line your way over the Brooklyn Food Conference taking place at Park Slope's John Jay High School from 9am to 9pm. Foodies and all folks in favor of clean, green, high vibe eats will munch and mingle with elected officials, partake in food demos, visit information tables and participate in over sixty workshops. Children can scoot over to nearby PS 321 where the event will host special kid-friendly activities.
Most impressive though is the line up of all-star sustainable food speakers: Dan Barber of Blue Hill Restaurant and Stone Barns Farm, Anna Lappe, author of Grub: Ideas for an Urban Organic Kitchen, Raj Patel, author of Stuffed and Starved: The Hidden Battle for the World Food System and Ladonna Redmond from the Chicago Institute of Community Resource Development.
It's definitely times like these when my Park Slope residency makes me proud!
