Yield: Makes 12 servings
Ingredients:
6
ounces 99% lean ground turkey
6
cups nonfat, low-sodium chicken or vegetable broth
1
teaspoon salt-free poultry seasoning
3
tablespoons all-purpose flour
Preparation:
1.
Spray a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray and place over medium heat. Add onion; cook and stir 1 minute. Add turkey; cook and stir until turkey is crumbly, dry and very browned, about 12 to 15 minutes. Do not let burn.
2.
Scrape browned turkey mixture into a large saucepan. Mix in chicken broth and poultry seasoning. Simmer 30 minutes over medium heat. Strain and discard cooked turkey.
3.
Mix flour and cold water until smooth; stir into saucepan with broth. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until gravy is reduced to 4 cups, about 30 to 45 minutes.
