Browned Turkey Gravy

Yield: Makes 12 servings
Ingredients:
Nonstick cooking spray

1/2
cup chopped onion

6
ounces 99% lean ground turkey

6
cups nonfat, low-sodium chicken or vegetable broth

1
teaspoon salt-free poultry seasoning

3
tablespoons all-purpose flour

1/2
cup water



Preparation:
1.
Spray a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray and place over medium heat. Add onion; cook and stir 1 minute. Add turkey; cook and stir until turkey is crumbly, dry and very browned, about 12 to 15 minutes. Do not let burn.

Scrape browned turkey mixture into a large saucepan. Mix in chicken broth and poultry seasoning. Simmer 30 minutes over medium heat. Strain and discard cooked turkey.

Mix flour and cold water until smooth; stir into saucepan with broth. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until gravy is reduced to 4 cups, about 30 to 45 minutes.
