INGREDIENTS

6 slices bacon
1 tablespoon browning sauce
1 tablespoon water
1 pound ground beef
4 slices American cheese
8 slices dill pickle
4 sesame seed buns, split
Green onions (optional)

PREPARATION:

  1. Arrange bacon in single layer on roasting rack or on rack placed in baking dish. Microwave, covered with paper towels, at HIGH until slightly underdone, 4-1/2 to 6 minutes (45 to 60 seconds per slice). Bacon fat will be bubbly and still slightly translucent. Let stand, covered, 5 minutes to complete cooking.
  2. Mix browning sauce with water in a cup. Shape beef into 4 even patties, each 1/2 inch thick; arrange evenly spaced on roasting rack. Brush tops and sides with sauce mixture. Microwave, covered with waxed paper, at HIGH 2 minutes. Turn patties over; brush with sauce mixture. Microwave, covered, at HIGH until done slightly less than desired, 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 minutes for medium-done burgers. (For rare or well-done burgers, decrease or increase cooking times by about 1/2 minute.)
  3. Top each burger with 1-1/2 slices bacon and 1 slice cheese. Let stand, loosely covered, 1 to 2 minutes. (Cheese should melt slightly during standing time. If necessary, microwave, uncovered, at HIGH 15 to 45 seconds or until cheese begins to melt.) Top burgers with pickle slices. Place in buns and serve, garnished with green onions.
