Makes 6 servings
|12||slices (12 ounces) thick-sliced bacon, preferably apple wood smoked|
|1/2||cup packed light brown sugar|
|1/2||teaspoon ground red pepper|
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Line 15X10-inch jelly-roll pan with heavy-duty foil. Spray wire rack with nonstick cooking spray; place in prepared pan.
- Cut bacon in half crosswise; arrange in single layer on prepared wire rack. Combine sugar, water and red pepper in small bowl; mix well. Brush generously over surface of bacon.
- Bake bacon 20 to 25 minutes or until bacon is very brown, but not burned. Immediately transfer to serving platter; cool completely.
Bacon can be prepared up to 3 days ahead, stored between sheets of waxed paper in resealable plastic food storage bag and refrigerated. Let stand at room temperature at least 30 minutes before serving.
