I love tapas, maybe it's the idea of trying a bunch of different foods and never feeling like you indulged. It's like eating five fun sized candy bars but refusing to eat one regular sized candy bar. Don't you just love to trick yourself? If you choose simple and clean small plates you can keep costs low and taste high.
Here's my guide to an eco-nomical tapas party:
- Make Kelly Rossiter's melt in you mouth Pistachio and Chive Goat Cheese on Puff Pastry Wafers. Get some good quality goat cheese, it will make all the difference.
Cost: About $24
- Make Neal Fraser's butternut squash soup. Go elegant by serving it in mini shot glasses. Learn more about keeping costs low without sacrificing presentation with my guide to making dinner parties super chic on the cheap.
Cost: About $10
- For a little sustenance and a salty edge try Emeril's bacon wrapped scallops.
Cost: About $34
- Make a retro classic for dessert with Kelly Rossiter's all-natural take on Twinkies, that's right, Twinkies!
Cost: About $11
- Since there are already so many flavors going on here, keep it simple with a good green wine and have your friends bring additional bottles.
Cost: About $20
Total: $99
