Cheesy Snack Squares

INGREDIENTS
| 1‑1/4 | cups all-purpose flour |
| 3/4 | cup cornmeal |
| 2 | medium green onions, thinly sliced |
| 4 | teaspoons sugar |
| 2 | teaspoons baking powder |
| 1 | teaspoon Italian seasoning |
| 1/4 | teaspoon salt |
| 1 | cup milk |
| 1/4 | cup vegetable oil |
| 1 | egg |
| 1 | cup (4 ounces) shredded Cheddar cheese |
| 1/4 | cup finely chopped green bell pepper |
| 1/4 | cup finely chopped red bell pepper |
| 2 | slices crisp-cooked bacon, crumbled |
PREPARATION:
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Grease 11X7-inch baking dish.
- Combine flour, cornmeal, green onions, sugar, baking powder, Italian seasoning and salt in large bowl; mix well. Combine milk, oil and egg in small bowl. Add to cornmeal mixture; mix just until moistened. Spread evenly in prepared dish. Combine cheese, bell peppers and bacon in medium bowl. Sprinkle evenly over cornmeal mixture.
- Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting.
Note
Also great as a side dish to fish, chicken or pork. Just cut into 8 squares.
