Chili-Spiked Fresh Lemonade Spritzer

INGREDIENTS
| 3 | cups water |
| 1‑1/4 | cups sugar |
| 5 | to 10 small dried hot red chilies* |
| 2 | cups fresh lemon juice |
| 1 | bottle (750 ml) Asti Spumante or club soda |
| Additional sugar (optional) | |
| Ice | |
| Lime wedges and dried hot red chilies for garnish | |
PREPARATION:
- Combine water, 1-1/4 cups sugar and chilies in medium saucepan. Cook and stir over high heat until mixture comes to a boil and sugar dissolves. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 30 minutes. Remove from heat and cool completely. Refrigerate 2 hours or up to 3 days.
- Pour mixture through strainer into 3-quart pitcher; discard chilies. Stir in lemon juice and Asti Spumante. Stir in additional sugar to taste. Serve over ice. Garnish, if desired.
