Chili Turkey Loaf
Yield: Makes 8 servings
Ingredients:
2
pounds ground turkey
1
cup chopped onion
2/3
cup Italian-style seasoned dry bread crumbs
1/2
cup chopped green bell pepper
1/2
cup chili sauce
2
eggs, lightly beaten
2
tablespoons horseradish mustard
4
cloves garlic, minced
1
teaspoon salt
1/2
teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
1/4
teaspoon black pepper
Salsa (optional)
Preparation:
1.
Make foil handles for loaf using technique described below. Mix all ingredients except salsa in large bowl. Shape into round loaf; place on foil strips. Transfer to bottom of slow cooker using foil handles.
2.
Cover; cook on LOW 5 to 6 hours.
3.
Remove loaf from slow cooker using foil handles. Let stand 5 minutes before serving. Cut into wedges and top with salsa, if desired.
Foil Handles:
Tear off three 18X2-inch strips of heavy foil or use regular foil folded to double thickness. Crisscross foil strips in spoke design and place in slow cooker to allow for easy removal of turkey loaf.
