Cinnamon Toast Poppers

INGREDIENTS

2 tablespoons butter
6 cups fresh bread* cubes (1-inch cubes)
1 tablespoon plus 1-1/2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
*Use a firm sourdough, whole wheat or semolina bread.

PREPARATION:

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Melt butter in Dutch oven or large skillet over low heat. Add bread cubes and toss to coat; remove from heat. Combine sugar and cinnamon in small bowl. Sprinkle over bread cubes; stir well.
  2. Spread bread cubes in one layer on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 25 minutes or until bread is golden and fragrant, stirring once or twice. Serve warm or at room temperature.
