Do you know how many calories are in this cheeseburger?

I didn't really agree with this one from the beginning. I get that some fast food goers may still be in the dark that their Quarter Pounder, fries, and a Coke actually exceeds their daily caloric intake. And I'm well aware that America is the fattest country in the world and still growing. But I refuse to believe that we're so acutely vapid of any sort of a food culture in this country that we're actually going to put the calories beside the chicken fingers on the menu. Similar to regulating salt in restaurants in New York City, it just doesn't sit well with me. We have to learn to taste our foods and to take some ownership for what we put in our bodies. It's no secret to any of us that the food at fast food joints isn't healthy.
But even still, regulation is on the way. According to Slashfood, as part of the massive health care reform bill signed into law last year, restaurant chains with 20 or more locations are required to post calorie counts for their regular menu items in bold writing beside the food items. You can't trick yourself anymore, that's for sure.
However, the FDA is delaying the enforcement of the rule citing complexity especially with regards to certain cooking preparations. Not sure about this either, but at least you still have a little more time to dig into that Big Mac without knowing the true damage you've done.
But in all seriousness, my advice is to avoid fast food in the first place. It's bad for your health and we're all smart enough to know this even before seeing it in big block letters listed next to the curly fries.
