Irresistible Cocktails For Fall: Fig, Pumpkin, and Cider Oh My!
I've given cocktails a rest until Thanksgiving, just to give my body a chance to fully detox prior to the holiday season. All that boozing between Thanksgiving and New Year's can be hard on the waistline and your overall health. But I just had to test these cocktails before offering them up for my readers (wink wink). I'm a firm believer that our cocktails should be as seasonal as the foods we eat and if we take our time making them and drink them mindfully, they can even be healthy in moderation.
Here are some fall favorites:
Fig Heaven
This is a time-intensive cocktail that I adapted from Star Chefs. I wrote about it over at TreeHugger. Figs make a wonderful cocktail and this tasty treat is worth the effort.
Pumpkin Spice Margarita
This may be my favorite of all. It's such a crowd pleaser. The pumpkin spice margarita gives you a new found reason to drink tequila on through the holidays. My best friend Susan first gave me the recipe and I have been making them regularly ever since.
CranCider
Apple cider can be found locally throughout the fall. Orchards like to make it to use up their bruised apples so they don't go to waste. It's like all the flavors of the season come together in this tart and sweet concoction.

| 1 oz | organic vodka |
