Fudgy Frosting

Makes 16 brownies


2 squares (1 ounce each) unsweetened chocolate
1/2 cup whipping cream
1 cup granulated sugar
Dash salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 to 3/4 cup powdered sugar


  1. Melt chocolate with cream in small heavy saucepan over low heat, stirring until chocolate melts completely. Stir in granulated sugar and salt. Bring to a boil. Boil 1 minute. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Beat until smooth. Add enough powdered sugar to make frosting a soft spreading consistency. Beat until slightly cooled; spread over brownies.
