Gingerbread People
Yield: Makes about 4-1/2 dozen cookies
Ingredients:
1/2
cup butter, softened

1/2
cup packed brown sugar

1/3
cup water

1/3
cup molasses

1
egg

4
cups all-purpose flour

2
teaspoons baking soda

1
teaspoon ground ginger

1/2
teaspoon ground allspice

1/2
teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2
teaspoon ground cloves

White or colored frostings



Preparation:
1.
Beat butter and brown sugar in large bowl with electric mixer at medium speed until creamy. Add water, molasses and egg; beat until blended. Add flour, baking soda, ginger, allspice, cinnamon and cloves; beat until well blended. Wrap dough tightly with plastic wrap; refrigerate about 2 hours or until firm.

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease cookie sheets. Roll out dough on lightly floured surface with lightly floured rolling pin to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutter. Place cutouts 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheets.

Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until set. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheets. Remove to wire racks to cool completely. Decorate with frostings as desired. Store in airtight containers.
