Even if you're not a full out vegetarian, getting enough iron isn't as easy as it sounds. According to The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), most men consume recommended amounts of iron, but women of childbearing age and young children often do not get enough iron in their diets. Iron is super important because it builds red blood cells, healthy bones, and muscular tissue. Most importantly, it carries life-giving oxygen to human blood cells.
