Switching your eating habits takes a lot of planning—which means that even if you have all the best intentions of eating local, organic, and seasonal food while you're reading Planet Green it's easy to be distracted by the first few fruits, vegetables, cookies, and frozen dinners you see when you walk in the grocery store hungry. Make the planning part easier with this grocery list setup from Design Sponge.
Kate took an old clipboard and covered it in bright paper to make the list even more eye-catching, and did the same to a magnetic pen cup that keeps receipts handy for month-end budgeting—and keeps writing instruments nearby, so there's no excuse for not writing down what you need as soon as you run out of it. She's also included three printable grocery checklists: one with blank spaces for you to fill in your own must-haves; one with common items already listed so that all you need to do is check off this week's requirements; and another that lets you plan out all your meals for the entire week and then list the ingredients by day. Whichever method you choose, you'll be able to save time and money by buying exactly what you need for a week's worth of healthy, local meals.
Another bonus? Your husband or wife, kids, babysitters, and anyone else who uses your refrigerator daily can use the "Oh! I Also Need...." section to write in their favorite foods—so you won't have the miserable experience of realizing your'e out of milk just as your coffee finishes brewing (not that we're speaking from experience...).
