Don't wait for a special occasion to add a new twist to the basic grilled burger. Here, the addition of feta cheese and oregano brings the Mediterranean to your backyard barbecue.
INGREDIENTS
| 1/2 | pound 95% ground beef sirloin |
| 1/2 | pound ground turkey breast |
| 2 | teaspoons grated lemon peel |
| 1 | teaspoon dried oregano leaves |
| 1 | teaspoon olive oil |
| 1/4 | teaspoon salt |
| 1/8 | teaspoon black pepper |
| 1 | ounce feta cheese |
| Cucumber Raita (recipe) | |
| 4 | slices tomato |
| 4 | whole wheat hamburger buns |
PREPARATION:
- Combine sirloin, turkey, lemon peel, oregano, oil, salt and pepper; mix well and shape into 8 patties. Make small depression in each of 4 patties and place 1/4 of the cheese in each depression. Cover each with remaining 4 patties, sealing edges to form burgers.
- Grill burgers over medium heat, covered, 8 to 10 minutes (or, uncovered, 13 to 15 minutes) to medium doneness (160°F), turning once. Serve with Cucumber Raita and tomato slice on whole wheat bun.
