One of my favorite things is a good shot of wheatgrass, especially if I've had too many cocktails the night before. I'm not really sure if it works, or if I just feel guilty enough for overindulging that drinking grass makes me feel better. Whatever the case, wheatgrass is credited with a host of benefits:

- It's a powerful detoxifier (i.e., a hangover cure)

- It has been used successfully to treat peptic ulcers, ulcerative colitis, constipation, diarrhea, and other gastrointestinal issues.

- According to Hippocrates Health Institute, recent studies show that wheatgrass juice has a powerful ability to fight tumors naturally.

With all these benefits, I should probably sip on wheatgrass juice more regularly, not just to cure the occasional hangover. But it can get expensive, about $3.00 for a small tray and $10.00 for a larger tray. So to save some major dough, here's how to grow wheatgrass at home:

1. Sprout the seeds in water for six to 12 hours.

2. Mix organic top soil with peat moss, about half and half, and place in a seed tray.

3. Drain the seeds and spread them over the soil. The seeds should be touching each other but not overlapping. Lightly cover them.

4. Keep the trays in indirect sunlight for about seven to 10 days. Water as needed.

5. When the grass is about six to seven inches tall, harvest and juice.
