G Word Video: Recycling Grease

French fries and onion rings form the foundation of any good diner or burger joint meal. And though these crispy, fried, treats may be ubiquitous at lunch counters around America, they produce waste that many eateries are still struggling to dispose of.

That waste is grease and until recently the only solution for most restaurants was to wash it down the drain. In this video Todd Sutton, the Waste Sleuth, searches out an alternative. First, he visits a used grease collection and processing plant that separates good grease, that with few particulates, from the dirty, bad, grease.

Todd then follows the good grease to a biodiesel processing plant where it is turned into a clean fuel that powers San Francisco's trucks and buses.
