The EPA is reminding people today—before the sun-filled long Memorial Day weekend—to bring their hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, and to seek shade.

The agency has teamed up with the National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention to declare today "Don't Fry Day." While rates of many common cancers are falling, according to the EPA, "the incidence of melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer, continues to rise significantly. Melanoma is now one of the most common cancers among young adults ages 15 to 29."

Yikes. So be sure to wear sunscreen—and make sure it's a good-for-you kind, and not filled with chemicals that may actually be worse for you than the sun's rays.
