I don't have an iPhone but if I did, Find Fruit would be one of the first applications I'd get for my gadget. I'm a fruit addict and come summer, I dust off my inner-urban forager skills. At last! Find Fruit, the mobile companion to NeighborhoodFruit.com, would help me locate fruit trees on public land on the go! Users simply plug in the current location (street address) into their iPhone to locate the closest fruit trees.
Find Fruit's Delicious User Perks
- You can refine the search to find specific types of fruit, what's in season and have the results aggregated into a list or map view.
- You can save individual trees as Favorites to save the information for future fruit finding.
- Find Fruit provides identification info, detailed illustrations and fruit facts--from your average Apple to the exotic Yellow Mangosteen.
Urban foragers in the eleven areas (Austin, Honolulu, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Portland, San Diego, San Francisco Bay Area, Santa Fe, and Seattle) in which the app features its trees will snack in awe over how many delicious, healthy gems are available so close--for free! Does it get any more local than this?
Score the Find Fruit application through iTunes. It rings in at under a buck!
