The FDA announced this week approval to irradiate spinach for sale in grocery stores! The plan is to expose spinach and iceburg lettuce, especially the pre-bagged ones, to low levels of radiation which will effectively kill E. coli and salmonella bacteria hiding within. Radiation isn't something I want to mess with, at any dose. And when you combine RADIATION and FOOD...well, that's just plain unappetizing!
