I'd been telling my husband for a while that I would try it. The idea of living totally local for a week has always appealed to me, even though I already strive to live as local as possible. So I finally committed to eating local for an entire week by purchasing only 100 percent local consumer goods, whether from the farmers' market, from my CSA, or from local producers found at the health foods store. I know that I'll have to use some spices and maybe some olive oil from elsewhere, but for now that's all I anticipate. If I slip up, I promise to be honest and to disclose my non-local indiscretions.
