Hypertension
Because hypertension is a result of our response to stress, the easiest way to cope with external triggers is to pause and take a deep breath, according to the September 2007 issue of Natural Health.
The mag recommends a simple exercise that we've excerpted below.
- Lie on your back with your feet flat on the floor and your knees pointed toward the ceiling. Inhale slowly through your nose for 6 counts.
- Hold your breath for 3 counts.
- Slowly exhale for 12 counts.
- Hold your breath for 3 counts.
- Continue this breathing pattern for 15 minutes.
Difficulty level: Easy
