Oat bran, touted as a health food, adds a wonderful nutty flavor to cookies.
Makes about 6-1/2 dozen cookies
|1||cup oat bran*|
|2||cups all-purpose flour|
|1/2||teaspoon baking soda|
|1||cup butter, softened|
|2/3||cup packed light brown sugar|
|1/2||cup granulated sugar|
|1||package (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips|
*If oat bran has a coarse texture, process it in a blender or food processor until pulverized.
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease baking sheets or line with parchment paper. Combine oat bran, flour and baking soda in small bowl. Cream butter with sugars, eggs and vanilla in large bowl. Blend in flour mixture; stir in chocolate chips. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto prepared cookie sheets. Bake 13 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.
