Our first dog Madison is nothing short of an angel. But our second dog, Bella has been difficult to say the least. It's not her fault, the fact that she's still alive is a miracle. When we rescued her she was about to be put down and then it took a month before she was no longer on death's doorstep with a terrible lung infection. She's safe now, but some of the fear still remains in the form of smelly urine left on our beautiful floors.
I recently, however, found a remedy in the form of flowers, that's right, it's made with floral essences. She has finally stopped the constant accidents. It's called Rescue Remedy and you can get it at your local natural foods store. I put a few drops in her water bowl but you can put a few drops on their tongue as well. It can help with pets that have been mistreated, have separation anxiety, fear of loud noises, and adapting to new surroundings. It's a mild sedative that calms dogs down when they are at their worst. Bella really needs it when we're about to go on a walk. As a rescue dog, she's never been walked and doesn't know how to do it other than pulling as hard as she can on the leash. You've never seen a funnier sight than this 20 pound dog pulling me like Santa's sleigh down the road. I give her the remedy about 30 minutes before we go so that she's a bit calmer and not freaking out.
It is said to also reduce trips to the vet. I can't vouch for that because we haven't really been going ever since the initial infection as she seems quite healthy now.
