J.D. from the blog Get Rich Slowly was looking for ways to get in shape, but imagine his surprise when he realized he was already hording an impressive array of exercise equipment. While the prospect of riding a Redline 925 made him drool, a quick inventory of what he had at his disposal unearthed two serviceable but neglected bicycles, a 10-year-old Nordictrack ski machine, a weight set he was storing for a friend, an unused stationary cycle and "health rider," a good pair of running shoes, and Dance Dance Revolution for the Wii, as well as a variety of sporting equipment for playing soccer, baseball, racquetball, golf, Frisbee, and jump rope.
He writes in the blog:
When I look at the list of fitness equipment I already have, it seems ludicrous to pay money to join a gym. I already have a gym. Sure, I don't have a treadmill or an elliptical machine or a fancy weight set, but I have plenty to get me started. I've already paid for this equipment-might as well get some use from it!
Before you drop any more cash on exercise aids, do some sniffing around in your closets, attic, and garage-you might be surprised at how much is just gathering dust. ::Get Rich Slowly
