Sip Tea to Your Health: Alleviate a Variety of Ailments Naturally By Choosing the Right Cup

I was reading one of my favorite yoga blogs Everything Yoga and I was thrilled to read about one of my favorite pass times, drinking tea. As I've come to yoga, I've fallen even more in love with tea and all its health benefits. It's a natural cure for a host of ailments. So I decided to take an in depth look at the medicinal qualities of many of the teas I love. You can find a tea to treat whatever ails you.

I use whole tea leave teas and I seep them in a French press instead of using tea bags. Tea bags have quite a bit of extra packaging that's just not necessary, and additionally, they're often a lower quality. Just like purchasing nutritional supplements, you'll want to get the good stuff so that it's processed minimally.

Green Tea

By now most of us are well aware that green tea is at the top of the food chain in terms of health benefits. And we've talked about it a lot here on Planet Green. It prevents glaucoma, keeps you looking young, staves off Alzheimer's, and prevents all sorts of cancers, especially those of the bladder and prostate. Studies have also shown that green tea is great for weight loss as well.

White Tea

Green, black, and white teas come from the same source, the Camilla Sinensis tea bush, but it's how they're harvested and processed which affects the final product. White tea is picked when the tea leaves are young and just beginning to bud. And like green tea, it has tons of health benefits. It's left very close to natural so it has more polyphenols than most green teas. It's good for the immune system as well as good for fighting infection and bacteria in the body.

Black Tea

A study done at Rutgers showed that black tea may help prevent stomach, breast, and prostate cancer. A study in the Netherlands showed that drinking black tea daily decreased by 50 percent your chances of dying from heart disease. It also prevents tooth decay.

Chamomile Tea

If you drink chamomile tea then you know its calming effects. That's why it's great for reducing anxiety and sleep disorders. Drink it before bed and it truly helps you get a good night's sleep. It also helps with annoying muscular twitches. Drink chamomile to reduce menstrual cramps naturally or if you have an upset stomach. It's also great for healing wounds faster.

Ginger Tea

Ginger is known to be great for settling our stomachs and ginger tea is no exception. It's also a great natural cure for nausea caused by morning sickness and car sickness. It freshens bad breath and even helps with a sore throat. Fennel tea also helps with proper digestion.
