I have never been a fan of extreme fasting. In my experience, depriving the body too much can be a bit of an overload, which leads to over indulgence. It's best to be realistic when it comes to detoxifying the body. Eating raw allows the body to gradually expel toxins without extreme measures. You won't feel starved but at the same time you're choosing foods that are loaded with nutrients and enzymes because none of them have been lost in the cooking process. Your body is also free of foods that are difficult to digest like meat, dairy, added sugars, and anything processed, giving your internal organs a rest. Raw foods tend to be fibrous and move through your system efficiently, pushing out undigested food matter.

Spring and summer are the most natural times of the year to eat raw foods because there is much more seasonal produce available and you can find food grown locally. And eating sustainable raw foods is easier on the planet. According to raw food guru Ani Phyo, one of the major changes she noticed was how her kitchen garbage disappeared when she began eating only fresh whole foods. She was no longer buying nor disposing of processed food packaging and all the plastics and cardboards. You can make a meal for 300 people and at the end of it will be left with organic compost.
