More on your health:
Beauty and youth is bought every day through expensive body creams, vitamin mixtures, juice extracts, and spa treatment packs. While some of these options can prove helpful, they are not always the most green means of attaining your goal. Limiting your purchase of such products will help keep some of this packaging out of the landfills. Instead of such products, I offer you these frugal, free, and fabulous ideas to keep those years from catching up with you.
Thinking Green = Staying Young
We research and introduce a lot of new innovative products, plans, and DIY ideas here on Planet Green, while many of you fellow Planet Green junkies follow up by posting your ideas, thoughts, and comments, and quite frankly, we couldn't do it without you. It is a symbiotic relationship that works quite well.
However little did we know that by doing this we were actually staying young in the process. It has been shown in studies that while the degradation of the myelin sheathing in our brains can occur as early as age 40, myelin sheating can be hindered by both exercising your body as well as exercising your brain with active thought.
Myelin sheathing is the insulation that protects the basic brains wiring, allowing the cells to fire off instructions to each other to move and think. If that sheathing is compromised, it can interfere with the cell's ability to communicate with each other (such as in Alzheimer's Disease). The more we exercise our mind, and keep it active...and this does not include watching a double header of the television show, Beavis and Butthead, the more efficiently our brains can monitor its sheathing and send repair cells when needed.
Sex = Longer Lasting Youth
We have heard the question before, how can sex be considered green? Well, it sure beats three containers of face cream and a basket full of cosmetics sitting in a landfill somewhere. I don't know how I always seem to miss the volunteer sessions of studies like these, but the Royal Edinburgh Hospital performed a study looking at a group of folks in their forties.
They found that the subjects who were having regular orgasms of at least one to two times a week, looked a full ten years younger than those who were not engaging in regular sexual intercourse (either by themselves or with others). Who knew that staying young could feel so darn good!
Citrus and Good Posture Fools Them into Thinking You're Younger
There is a lot of research out there today which says good posture not only helps you live a more youthful life, but also appear younger and slimmer. There is also significant research that shows that women who smell like citrus fruit are automatically perceived as more youthful. Studies have suggested that the chemical makeup of citrus may in fact disorient a man's ability to tell a woman's age. Perhaps this is also in the same vicinity of the brain where men try to remember birthdays and anniversaries too.
