We've seen study after study on the health effects of drinking. It's hard to discern what's true. As a yogi and a foodie I'm in a tough place. The two loves of my life (beyond my husband, parents, and puppies) are yoga and food. And many yogis don't drink at all. Ayurvedic theory, the sister science to yoga, says that alcohol can be healthy in extreme moderation, which amounts to about 3 tablespoons of alcohol a day. And that's not even a glass.

Too much boozing is linked to breast cancer, heart disease, and liver damage, amongst a host of other illnesses. But at the same time, studies have shown that moderate consumption of alcohol has huge benefits, especially with regards to heart disease. But recently, in an article found on Mother Nature Network, two studies showed how much is too much.
