Sunflower Cake
Yield: Makes 12 servings
Ingredients:
1
package (18 ounces) chocolate cake mix, plus ingredients to prepare mix

1-1/3
cups mini semisweet chocolate chips, divided

1
container (16 ounces) vanilla frosting

Yellow food coloring

Green candy fruit slices for garnish (optional)

Preparation:
1.
Grease and flour 10-cup ovenproof glass bowl. (Bowl should be about 9 inches across top.) Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Bake in prepared bowl 60 to 70 minutes or until wooden skewer inserted into center comes out clean. Cool in bowl on wire rack 30 minutes. Remove from bowl; cool completely on wire rack.

2.
Place cake flat side down on serving platter. Place 1/3 cup mini chocolate chips in small microwavable bowl. Microwave on HIGH 1 minute; stir. Microwave at additional 30-second intervals until chips are completely melted, stirring after each interval. Spread melted chocolate chips on top of cake. Place remaining mini chocolate chips upright in melted chocolate to form center of sunflower.

3.
Tint frosting desired shade with yellow food coloring. Starting at bottom, using decorating bag fitted with leaf tip, pipe frosting on remainder of cake to form petals. (Or spread frosting with metal spatula and use back of spoon to "lift" frosting into peaks.) Surround cake with fruit slices, if desired.
