Thanksgiving Grog
Yield: Makes 24 servings (about 5 ounces each)
Vary the fruits and colors in the ice ring for the holiday–let your imagination be your guide.
Ingredients:
Thanksgiving Ice Ring (recipe follows)
1
can (12 ounces) frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
2
quarts cranberry juice cocktail
1
quart apple cider
1/2
cup instant orange-flavored breakfast drink
1/4
teaspoon red food coloring (optional)
1
bottle (1 liter) lemon-lime soda
Preparation:
1.
The day before serving, prepare Thanksgiving Ice Ring; freeze until firm.
2.
When ready to serve, combine all remaining ingredients except soda in large punch bowl; stir to blend well. Pour in soda.
3.
Unmold ice ring; float in punch.
Variation:
For adult parties, stir in 1 cup vodka and 1/2 cup orange-flavored liqueur with the apple cider, if desired.
Thanksgiving Ice Ring
Yield: Makes 1 ice ring
Ingredients:
1
medium seedless orange, cut into wedges
1/2
to 3/4 cup fresh or thawed frozen cranberries
3
cups apple cider
Preparation:
1.
Arrange fruits on bottom of 3-1/2-cup ring mold; fill with cider. Freeze until solid, about 8 hours or overnight. To unmold, dip bottom of mold briefly in hot water.
