Gardening is great for the environment. It cuts down on food miles. It puts much-needed plants in cities. You can even grow beauty supplies and all-natural remedies in gardens. A green thumb sure seems like an entryway to a green lifestyle.
However, gardening can be hell on your hands. You?ll need gloves to stop blisters form forming on your palms. Some of you may have amazing, rock-hard calluses and need not gloves. The rest of us probably enjoy gloves. They keep dirt out of cuts and are generally a good idea when working with tools.
One of the tenets of being green is taking care of the stuff that you own. That includes your gardening gloves. Here are some tips to make sure that they last.
1. Clean them off when you are done with them.
2. Store them in a clean, dry, well-ventilated area. Put them on an old, immaculate ketchup bottle.
3. Hand wash gloves with gentle, non-toxic soap.
4. If you are right handed, you are likely to wear out your right glove faster. If possible, switch the gloves between hands when your dominate hand wears out its glove.
5. Once a set of gloves is beyond repair, purchase another pair. Use the old set as patches for the new pair.
