During the early years of the atomic bomb, radiation was thought to have wondrous powers. People believed that it could make insects giant or make lizards giant or make men giant. You get the picture. But really, radiation is very dangerous and potentially deadly. It is a known to cause cancer and should be avoided at all costs.
A watchdog organization known as the Radiation and Public Health Project has been conducting a study of the levels of strontium-90 found in baby teeth. This project is called the Tooth Fairy Project. The RPHP postulates that nuclear power facilities are emitting low levels of strontium-90 that end up in the environment. The molecular structure of strontium-90 is so similar to calcium that the body will deposit the radioactive material into teeth and bones. By testing baby teeth, the Tooth Fairy Project can pinpoint where the highest levels of strontium-90 are located and make assessments as to what is causing this.
Because the government is no longer interested in collecting data on the radiation found in baby teeth, it us up to us to support the this study in order to protect ourselves. Perhaps nuclear power plants are not causing the rise in radioactive baby teeth, but only an ongoing study can say for sure.
In order to keep this study afloat, the RPHP can use a donation of any size. Donate here and help develop a future where your children?s teeth don?t have strontium-90 in them.
