Tuna Monte Cristo Sandwich
Prep and Cook Time: 20 minutes
Yield: Makes 2 servings
Challah is a traditional Jewish yeast bread. It is rich with eggs and has an airy texture. Challah can be found in many forms, but the most common shape is braided.
Ingredients:
4
slices (1/2 ounce each) Cheddar cheese
4
oval slices sourdough or challah (egg) bread
1/2
pound deli tuna salad
1/4
cup milk
1
egg, beaten
2
tablespoons butter
Preparation:
1.
Place 1 slice cheese on each of 2 bread slices. Spread tuna salad evenly over two slices of cheese. Top each with remaining cheese and bread slices.
2.
Combine milk and egg in shallow bowl; stir until well blended. Dip sandwiches in egg mixture, turning to coat well.
3.
Melt butter in large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add sandwiches; cook 4 to 5 minutes per side or until cheese melts and sandwiches are golden brown.
Serving Suggestion:
Serve with a chilled fruit salad.
