Not your ordinary pop-tart.
Candice Reynolds, Red Queen, LLC
Us greenies know we can have our sweets and eat them too. Case and point? These wholesome (in moderation), heirloom, organic pop-tarts from Red Queen, LLC down in Atlanta, Georgia. (Spotted in a recent New York Times magazine.)
Instead of getting frosted, sprinkled and red dyed #5 down a conveyor belt, each tart is made with love by baker and the Red Queen herself, Candice Reynolds. From the kneading of the heirloom whole flour pastry dough to the mixing of the farmers market inspired filling--flavor creations like cinnamon apple tatin, blueberry lemon curd and pumpkin tart are born.
But unless you're an Atlantan on the farmers market circuit or are willing to get creative in the kitchen following Candice's--and our very own Kelly's delicious lead--the nostalgic eco-tarts are accessible only by mail-order. Red Queen, at least for now, has no website, storefront or wholesale operation.
