Makes 4 servings


1/2 cup reduced-fat mayonnaise
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram leaves
1/4 teaspoon dried tarragon leaves
4 whole wheat pita breads
4 slices Cheddar cheese
1/2 cup rinsed and drained alfalfa sprouts
1/2 cucumber, thinly sliced
8 tomato slices
1 medium red onion, thinly sliced
2 cups chopped romaine lettuce


  1. Combine mayonnaise, garlic, marjoram and tarragon in small bowl.
  2. Wrap 2 pita breads in paper towels. Microwave on HIGH 20 to 30 seconds or just until soft and slightly warm. Repeat with remaining pita breads.
  3. Spread 2 tablespoons mayonnaise mixture over half of each pita bread. Fold pita breads in half; divide cheese, alfalfa sprouts, cucumber, tomato, onion and lettuce among breads.
