INGREDIENTS

1/2 to 3/4 cup mayonnaise
1‑1/2 teaspoons dried tarragon leaves
1 teaspoon bottled minced garlic
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 loaf (16 ounces) Italian or French bread, cut in half lengthwise
2 medium tomatoes, thinly sliced
1 to 2 ounces (1/4 to 1/2 cup) thinly sliced red onion
2 cups chopped romaine lettuce
6 ounces thinly sliced deli roast beef
6 ounces thinly sliced deli smoked turkey
6 ounces sliced smoked provolone or Monterey Jack cheese with hot peppers

PREPARATION:

  1. Combine mayonnaise, tarragon, garlic and salt in small bowl; stir until well blended.
  2. Spread mayonnaise mixture evenly over cut sides of both bread halves.
  3. Layer bottom half of bread with tomatoes, onion, lettuce, roast beef, turkey and cheese. Cover with top half of bread; press down gently. Slice diagonally into 4 or 6 sandwiches.
