Winter Squash and Apples

INGREDIENTS
| 1 | teaspoon salt |
| 1/2 | teaspoon black pepper |
| 1 | butternut squash (about 2 pounds), peeled and seeded |
| 2 | apples, cored and cut into slices |
| 1 | medium onion, quartered and sliced |
| 1‑1/2 | tablespoons butter |
PREPARATION:
Slow Cooker Directions
- Combine salt and pepper in small bowl; set aside.
- Cut squash into 2-inch pieces; place in slow cooker. Add apples and onion. Sprinkle with salt mixture; stir well. Cover; cook on LOW 6 to 7 hours or until vegetables are tender.
- Just before serving, stir in butter and season to taste with additional salt and pepper.
Variation
Add 1/4 to 1/2 cup packed brown sugar and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon with butter in step 3; mix well. cook an additional 15 minutes.
