So what would the National Organic Program be without organics? Apparently it's becoming the Subcommittee on Nutrition and Horticulture. According to a story on La Vida Locavore via Grist, the purview of the subcommittee has expanded to include nutrition programs and food stamps, and the word organic has been dropped from the name entirely. Is this a de-emphasis of the organic program? It's enough to oversee the entire organic program without to huge subgroups being added.
