Makes 14 to 18 servings
|5-1/2||cups cake batter, divided|
|1||(15X15-inch) cake board, covered, or large plate|
|1||container (16 ounces) white frosting|
|1||miniature chocolate sandwich cookie|
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour 2-quart ovenproof bowl and 8-inch round cake pan. Pour 3-1/2 cups cake batter into prepared bowl; pour 2 cups cake batter into cake pan. Bake cake in bowl 55 to 60 minutes and cake in pan 20 to 30 minutes or until wooden skewer inserted into centers comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes in pans. Loosen edges; invert onto wire racks and cool completely.
- Trim flat side of bowl cake and top of round cake. Cut round cake into crescent shape to create rim of hat as shown in photo. Place rim piece on prepared cake board. Place bowl cake next to rim cake to form baseball hat, attaching pieces with small amount of frosting.
- Tint 1/3 cup frosting blue. Tint remaining frosting orange.
- Frost rim of cap and bowl of cap with orange frosting. Place blue frosting in small plastic food storage bag. Cut tip off one corner of bag and pipe blue lines on cap as shown in photo. Open sandwich cookie; place half of cookie, filling side down, on top of hat.
