Blueberry-Spice Syrup

Makes 1 cup


1/2 cup blueberries, divided
1/2 cup maple syrup, divided
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg


  1. Bring 1/4 cup blueberries and 1/4 cup syrup to a boil in small saucepan over medium heat. Mash hot berries with fork. Add remaining 1/4 cup blueberries and 1/4 cup syrup, lemon peel, cinnamon and nutmeg. Cook and stir over medium heat about 2 minutes or until heated through.
