Cheddar Pastry

This recipe is part of the recipe for Apple-Cheddar Tart


1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup (1-1/2 ounces) shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cold butter or margarine
3 to 4 tablespoons ice water


  1. Combine flour, cheese and salt in medium bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender or two knives until mixture forms coarse crumbs. Add water, 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing just until mixture forms dough; wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate 1 hour.
