Chocolate Cereal Bars

These bars are great for lunch boxes, after-school snacks or classroom treats.


Makes 24 squares


6 cups crisp rice cereal
1 cup (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
1 jar (7 ounces) marshmallow creme
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla


  1. Butter 13X9-inch baking pan; set aside. Place cereal in large heatproof bowl; set aside.
  2. Melt chocolate chips, marshmallow creme and butter in small heavy saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
  3. Stir in vanilla. Pour chocolate mixture over cereal. Stir until blended. Press into prepared pan; cool.
  4. Cut into squares.
