Chocolate Frosting

This recipe is part of the recipe for Aunt Lucille's Chocolate Pound Cake


3/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
2 squares (1 ounce each) unsweetened chocolate, chopped
2 cups sugar
3 to 4 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla


  1. Combine milk and chocolate in medium saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until almost thickened. Add sugar; bring to a boil. Boil 9 to 10 minutes, stirring constantly. Add butter and salt; remove from heat. Cool 20 minutes. Add vanilla; beat until spreadable.


This frosting mixture is very hot. Take care not to splash it on your hands. Do not leave it unattended while it is boiling.
