Fragrant Beef with Garlic Sauce

Fragrant Beef with Garlic Sauce

Fragrant Beef with Garlic Sauce

Good-for-you garlic is the star here. Ten cloves are cooked until tender, then pureed into an aromatic sauce that perfectly complements beef.

Makes 4 servings

1 boneless beef top sirloin steak (about 1-1/4 pounds)
1/3 cup reduced-sodium teriyaki sauce
10 large cloves garlic, peeled
1/2 cup fat-free reduced-sodium beef broth
4 cups hot cooked white rice (optional)

  1. Place beef in large resealable food storage bag. Pour teriyaki sauce over beef. Seal bag and turn to coat beef. Marinate in refrigerator at least 30 minutes or up to 4 hours.
  2. Combine garlic and broth in small saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium. Simmer, uncovered, 5 minutes. Cover and simmer 8 to 9 minutes until garlic is softened. Transfer to blender or food processor; process until smooth.
  3. Meanwhile, drain beef; reserve marinade. Place beef on rack of broiler pan. Brush with half of reserved marinade. Broil 5 to 6 inches from heat 6 minutes. Turn beef over; brush with remaining marinade. Broil 6 minutes more.*
  4. Slice beef thinly; serve with garlic sauce and rice, if desired.
