Beryl Byrd created this Gingerbread Cake recipe in the second season of TLC's 'Ultimate Cake Off'.
|1||tsp baking soda|
|1||tsp. ground ginger|
|1||tsp ground cinnamon|
|1/2||tsp ground cloves|
|1/2||tsp ground allspice|
|1||cup dark brown sugar (packed)|
|1/2||lb butter (room temperature)|
|3/4||lb soft cream cheese|
|1/2||cup soft butter|
|7||cups confectioner sugar|
- Sift flour and salt in large bowl. Combine eggs and brown sugar in large bowl and mix with whip attachment for 1 minute.
- Add soft butter and mix 1 minute. Add buttermilk and molasses and mix briefly. Add dry ingredients and mix until blended together. Pour into greased 10 inch cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 1 hour.
- Beat cream cheese and butter together until blended. Add vanilla and mix briefly. Add sugar one cup at a time until well blended.
